Applicants should file their application at least three months in advance, to enter into a four-stage process that lead to your eventual appointment as a faculty member:<\/p>\n<ol data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li><a href=\"#anchor1\">Getting to Know SUM<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor2\">Submitting the Application<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor3\">Hiring Interview<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor4\">Finalizing Paperwork<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Qualifications<\/h3>\n<p>(Qualifications for Theology, Biblical Studies, and General Education)<\/p>\n<p>Before applying to teach with SUM, please confirm that you fulfill these minimum qualifications:<\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>Earned a minimum of a Master&#8217;s degree from an accredited institution<\/li>\n<li>Passed 18 credits in a subject taught at SUM: applied theology, biblical studies, general education, theology<\/li>\n<li>At least four (4) years of full-time field experience related to the subject matter. The Committee will make a recommendation for hire or not hire to the Chief Academic Officer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th valign=\"top\"><center>3D<\/center><\/th>\n<td valign=\"top\"><strong>Chief Academic Officer Approval<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>Based on the curriculum need, budget, and recommendations of the Hiring Committee, the CAO will decide on hiring the faculty applicant. We use these to verify your credentials, and determine which courses you are qualified to teach. A personalized contract will be sent to each instructor via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightsignature.com\">RightSignature<\/a>. Please sign and submit online.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Resources<\/h2>\n<p>These are the relevant resources if you have been accepted\u00a0as an adjunct faculty instructor.<\/p>\n<h3>Faculty Handbook<\/h3>\n<p>Please read the Faculty Handbook\u00a0in its entirety to familiarize yourself with the Academic Department policies. Refer to it often, as it answers most of your questions about attendance, expectations, forms, etc.<\/p>\n<h3>Faculty Meetings<\/h3>\n<p>It is crucial that SUM Faculty work together as one unit in teaching God\u2019s truths faithfully, and mentoring our students well. Please make the time to assemble together on the last Friday of every month, or otherwise stated.<\/p>\n<h3>Academic Calendar<\/h3>\n<p>Plan your trimester well in advance by viewing our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sum.edu\/academic-calendar\/\">Academic Calendar<\/a>\u00a0for the Class Schedules, Holidays, and Faculty Meetings.<\/p>\n<h3>Syllabus<\/h3>\n<p>Now that you have been hired to teach a course, a good way to begin creating your syllabi is to download sample syllabi from SUM\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediafire.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MediaFire<\/a>\u00a0storage: SUM Syllabi. Make sure you incorporate Learning Outcomes, Course Time Estimates, Assignments, Course Outline, Grading Rubric, Paper Expectations, Practices &amp; Policies, and even a Sample Paper.<\/p>\n<h3>Textbook<\/h3>\n<p>Review our <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheet\/pub?key=0AqCk_n5zCxsFdHMxVVVZYjJMeTBYalRha0xBcUZobFE&amp;output=html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Master Textbook List<\/a>, a list of books which previous instructors have dedicated as the required text of the course. Determine which book suits your style and the needs of the course. Obtain a free desk or exam copy directly from the publisher.
